Healthy homemade dog food recipe
Aloha Fit friends! I know there are many of you out there who love their pets like me! As you know I have two rescue dogs Kona and Hula.
For some reason Kona has not been eating. I get him high-quality natural dry food and wet food but he has not eaten either for many days. I decided to make him homemade dog food.
As soon as I did, he ate the whole bowl! I just got back from the health food store and loaded up on healthy ingredients for Konas healthy dog food. I’m putting it in the crockpot and I wanted to share the recipe with you.
This reminds me of the time I was in Aspen, Colorado and went dogsledding at Klablunick. When we arrived, there were hundreds of beautiful Huskies and it was feeding time. The owners had huge pots of gruel they were feeding the dogs which had brown rice vegetables and lean meat. Those dogs eat better than a lot of people!
your favorite lean meat such as steak, chicken, lean ground beef. 1 to 2 cups of brown rice or pasta. Fresh or frozen peas and carrots. Diced sweet potatoes (optional).
Plain boiled or crock pot chicken is also an excellent way to give dogs medicine / pills. Kona needs to take 6 pills twice per day for his heart :( He is so smart, the vet told me to use pill pockets or hot dogs. Kona would somehow eat the hot dog or treat and spit out the pill! The only way I get him to easily eat the pills is to put it inside soft boiled chicken. Love my dogs so much!
put all of it into a crockpot on high for five hours or low for eight hours add the frozen peas the last half hour. Store in airtight containers
